Will Robert Lewandowski score 40 league goals for Bayern Munich?

Robert Lewandowski sorted his future at Bayern earlier this season and started the season on a sensational note. The Polish striker has been consistent throughout the campaign, scoring 43 goals across all competitions, making him the best number nine in Europe.

Lewandowski currently has 29 goals to his name in the Bundesliga. The Polish striker has a chance to break Gerd Muller’s record of 40 league goals in one league campaign. However, he will have to score 11 goals in the next five games.

There were doubts about him breaking this record when he suffered a serious injury against Chelsea in February, ruling him out for five weeks. However, the break in football helped Lewandowski to miss only two league games, giving him a slim chance to break the record.

Since football returned, Lewandowski has scored four goals across four games. He will have to score at least two goals in every game to have a chance of breaking the record. The Polish striker is known for doing unthinkable as he had previously scored five goals in nine minutes against Wolfsburg in 2015. It will be interesting to see whether the Polish record chases the record and goes on a mindblowing scoring run.
