Will the intensity of football drop?

Flick will currently take any type of win on Sunday just to keep the momentum going, which they had built after two months of outstanding football. Die Roten was swatting teams aside and winning games by big margins.

The 3-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is an ideal reflection of the level of performances Die Roten were delivering since the winter break. They were not only winning games but winning in style, playing an attractive style of football that saw the team pressing aggressively from the kickoff.

However, circumstances have changed completely. Coronavirus is troubling the whole world, impacting every industry. It will also impact the way football is played since it is a contact sport. Bundesliga has not exactly made major changes to football, but there could be a drop in intensity of games as players will be worried about the virus.

Flick has been playing an expansive style of football, getting the intensity of pressing from the moment he was appointed as caretaker manager. It will be intriguing to see whether the German manager finds a way out to maintain the same level of intensity now. The game against Union Berlin will show us whether the German manager has altered the style of play due to the virus.
