A narrow victory in DFB Pokal final

During the second half of the season, it was pretty much confirmed quite early that Die Roten was set to win the Bundesliga. Cup competitions became the main focus for the German club as they went deep into the season.

The last game of the season was against VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal final. After clinching Champions League title and Bundesliga, this game was set to decide whether Die Roten make it a historic season or just had to settle for a double.

Bayern players set the tone of the DFB Pokal final by racing to a 3-0 lead by the hour mark. It showed the determination of the squad under Heynckes to make it a memorable season. However, Stuttgart also responded well by scoring two goals. Eventually, Heynckes’ players showed resilience to see through the game to complete the treble.

The Pokal win is hardly remembered when the treble campaign is mentioned. Die Roten had not won the DFB Pokal in the previous two campaigns, so Heynckes had broken that duck too. There were very fewer lapses in concentration for the team under Heynckes; showing tremendous focus to win the DFB Pokal after clinching CL few days ago.
