Assist against Chelsea

Davies was gaining plaudits in Germany for his seamless adaption to the left-back position. He grew into this role and worked hard to polish the rough edges of his game. While going forward, he was a bit erratic, but steadily he gained composure and added more dimensions to his game in the final third.

It was essential to see whether Davies can replicate these performances in Europe. The clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in February was an ideal opportunity for Davies to announce himself at the biggest stage in the club football.

He not only passed this test with flying colours, but also managed to deliver his best performance of the season. Davies was a rock defensively, giving Masan Mount no chance to cause havoc in the final third. The Canadian winger was a menace in the final third.

The highlight of the game was Die Roten’s third goal, which sealed the game for the visitors. Davies won the ball at the half-line and went past three players to reach the byline. He held his composure to square the ball with the right amount of pace for Robert Lewandowski to slot it in the goal. This was the moment that showed the world that Davies has all the talent and temperament to become one of the best in Europe.
