Dettmar Cramer

Dettmar Cramer enjoyed a distinguished managerial career in football. He enjoyed success at different clubs in different countries. He was fondly known as a football professor in Germany due to the amount of success he achieved during his managerial career across the globe.

After being part of the coaching staff that helped Germany to win the World Cup in 1974, Cramer was appointed as the first team manager of Bayern Munich. Cramer managed to stay in Bavaria for two years.

He guided the club to great heights as Bayern went on to win two consecutive European titles under him. The likes of Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller flourished under Cramer during his time at the club, making them some of the best footballers in Europe at that time.

The German manager struggled to emulate the team’s European success in domestic competitions. Bayern could not manage to win a single domestic trophy during Cramer’s time in Bavaria, which eventually also lead to his dismissal in 1977.

However, winning two European cups on the trot is a fantastic and historic return under Cramer. Along with Real Madrid and Liverpool, Bayern is the only club to win consecutive European trophies. They managed to do it under the leadership of Cramer.
