Improve the offer

Neuer is one of the few experienced players left in the dressing room. The club must have a leader in the squad that can see through this transition phase and leads the team to a new era. The German goalkeeper can do that as he continues to remain a top performer on the pitch.

Bayern reportedly had an offer rejected from Neuer and his entourage for a contract extension. The new contract was set to expire at the end of 2023. The German international reportedly wants a longer contract. His agent has denied these claims, but the chatter in German media surely suggests that contract talks are not straightforward between two parties. Die Roten was reportedly close to agreeing on a new deal with Neuer at the end of 2019, but things have cooled down since January window.

In such a scenario, Die Roten will have to improve the length of their contract to convince Neuer. Considering goalkeepers have a longer career than other players, Neuer can go on to play well into the late thirties. He had struggled with injuries in the past few seasons, but now completely looks fit to play a few more seasons.

In terms of his form on the pitch, Neuer has looked solid during the 2019/20 campaign. The German international remains hungry to achieve success on and off the pitch. Demand for longer deal suggests Neuer wants to secure his future, but it also hints that the German is confident about not dropping standards in his performance levels.
