Pavard’s screamer against Union Berlin

Benjamin Pavard is fondly known for scoring the screamer for France against Argentina in the 2018 World Cup. The Frenchman is a solid central defender, but he also has a great shot in his locker. Pavard immediately showed his goalscoring ability for Bayern after moving to the club in summer.

At the end of August, Die Roten desperately needed a win as they hosted Union Berlin at Allianz Arena. Bayern went on to win the game by a narrow scoreline of 2-1. Pavard and Robert Lewandowski were the goal scorers for the hosts.

Pavard displayed his impressive technique to strike the ball from distance while scoring his goal. After Kingsley Coman was fouled on the right flank, Joshua Kimmich delivered an inviting ball in the ball from the subsequent free-kick. Rafal Gikiewicz punched the ball delivered by Kimmich. However, that ball could not get past Pavard at the edge of the box.

Instead of taking a touch, Pavard drilled the ball back into the right corner of the goal. The Frenchman showed great balance as he maintained the right posture while shooting and had a smooth follow-through. Gikiewicz had no chance to make the save. It was a brutal and aesthetically pleasing goal scored by the French full-back, making it a strong contender for goal of the season.
