Lewandowski’s trademark goal against Chelsea

Die Roten were peaking at the right time in the season. There were some promising signs shown by the team on the pitch for Bayern fans to be optimistic about winning the Champions League. The first big test on their road to winning the European title was the game away at Chelsea in the round of 16.

The visitors dominated in London and passed the test with flying colours. Die Roten hammered three goals past Chelsea and took a healthy lead back to Allianz Arena. Serge Gnabry was the star of the evening as he scored a brace in the game, but Lewandowski scored the best goal of the game.

Alphonso Davies deserves special credit for the goal. It was a breath-taking move from the start till the end. Davies wrestled the ball from two players near half line and then dodged the challenge from Andreas Christensen to dart into the final third. The left-back then delivered an inch-perfect cross in the box for Lewandowski.

The Polish striker timed his run to perfection and slotted the ball in the net. This goal effectively won the tie for Rekordmeister as they had scored three away goals and enjoy a healthy record at Allianz Arena. Lewandowski has been in red hot form throughout the campaign but this goal epitomised Lewy 2.0, who makes a massive impact in games against top sides.
