Hasan Salihamidzic

The hierarchy at Bayern made a massive decision last year to promote Hasan Salihamidzic to the board from the start of next season. Salihamidzic has been acting as the sporting director of Die Roten since 2017. There has been wide criticism of his work in the last two years, but there are hardly any doubts about his success during playing days in Bavaria.

Salihamidzic moved to Bayern in 1998 after a productive spell at reserves and first-team level with Hamburg. He instantly became a key player for Die Roten, featuring heavily in his debut season. The defensive midfielder helped the club to dominate domestic competitions and eventually win the Champions League in 2000/01.

The former Bosnia Herzegovina international’s consistency in performances made sure that he remained in Bayern’s plans for long times. Along with playing in the destroyer role, Brazzo also filled in the full-back position whenever needed.

Salihamidzic racked up 365 appearances across all competitions during his nine-year tenure in Bavaria. Apart from two seasons where he struggled with injuries, Salihamidzic was one of the top performers for Die Roten. Bayern fans will be hoping that Brazzo is successful in the administerial role as he did on the playing turf.
