Robert Lewandowski

If the season ends tomorrow, then it will not be a tough job to decide who is the player of the year for Bayern Munich. Robert Lewandowski will win this award by an astounding margin, and any Bayern fan or player will complain about it.

The Polish striker has been the best number nine in the world this season. He started the season strongly and maintained the goal-scoring form throughout the last seven months. By the time football was suspended due to coronavirus pandemic, he already had 40 goals to his name across all competition.

Apart from his usual exploits in front of goal, there has been drastic improvement in Lewandowski’s overall play. Most importantly, he has silenced his critics by delivering top performances in big games this year. In every big game in the Bundesliga and Champions League (Tottenham Hotspurs and Chelsea), Lewandowski has stepped up and contributed in the final third.

If the season resumes anytime soon, then Bayern will be hoping that Lewandowski maintains this new habit of delivering the goods in big games. He has failed to do it in the knockout stages of the Champions League in the past, but going by these season’s performances, he is likely to stop that trend soon.
