Demanding manager on and off the pitch

Top managers never fear to voice their opinions. They will heap praise on players after a strong display and be equally harsh after a defeat. Flick is one of those managers that have a strong personality, who doesn’t mince words when things are not met up to his standards.

Even when the team is winning, Flick makes sure that the team gets the message about their poor performance during press conferences. The German manager doesn’t throw players under the bus, but he makes sure that players know that they have to maintain a certain standard in their performance.

Previous managers have hardly expressed disappointment or made demands about transfers in public. It is not an ideal approach, but sometimes the manager needs to be vocal to get things sorted. Flick publicly put pressure on the board in January for transfers. Eventually, the club went ahead and added a right-back to the squad.

Flick has not gone overboard with his demands on and off the pitch. He has set the tone by listing down his demands if he gets the job. A strong personality will help Die Roten to go in the long run. There is a fine line between complaining things and setting the standards high. For now, Flick is managing this line perfectly, making him the ideal candidate for this role.
