Bayern turning on the screw in big games

Bayern have been on the receiving end of intense criticism due to their performances in Europe. The German club has been winning league titles in the past few seasons but struggled to deliver against formidable opponents in Europe.

This season has been a completely different story for Rekordmeister. They have been tactically strong in big games, and their players have thrived upon the pressure during these games. This change in performance and mentality was visible under both Niko Kovac and Hansi Flick.

The game against Tottenham Hotspurs at London Stadium in October was the turning point for Die Roten. On a hostile turf, Bayern ruthlessly slotted seven past the London based club. In the home game of this fixture, Die Roten were also efficient and showed no mercy on a weakened Spurs side.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern delivered solid performances against Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. The 3-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge surely indicated that Bayern meant business in Europe. Senior players have come up with clutch performances, and the team has been more cohesive in games against formidable opponents. They have the ruthless edge in them to punish teams when they are dominating games accompanied by resilience to see out a tough phase in big games.
