Heavy rotation?

Hansi Flick has done a great job in managing this squad when there has been a fixture pile-up. The German manager is regularly praised by players for his approach as he makes sure that fringe players also get decent opportunities.

With Chelsea game around the corner, Flick may have to opt for heavy rotation against Union Berlin. The Premier League side is set to visit Allianz Arena next week for the second leg of the round of 16 tie in the Champions League.

Flick will have the onus to keep his players fresh for that game despite having a big 3-0 lead from the first leg. The German manager made numerous changes before the first leg when they hosted SC Paderborn a fortnight ago. However, this time the case is different as Bayern players had ample amount of time to rest as they have no midweek game.

Leon Goretzka recently complained about lack of playing time, so it will be interesting to see whether Flick takes a gamble and rotates heavily to give fringe players a chance in a tricky away game. Apart from Goretzka, there are many players in the first team that are raring to get some minutes under their belt.
