Good to see team grinding out a win

Although there were some nervy moments towards the end, and it took until the 90th minute for them to put away the match, it still was a win and this match puts Bayern four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.

This was a match that felt very reminiscent of the Pep Guardiola era, specifically in the spring, when the team had the league wrapped up and weren’t playing as hard as they could. Augsburg played well defensively, but it never felt like Bayern were in danger of losing the match.

The most important takeaway from the match is that Bayern won and got a clean sheet. Could they have played better, and put this match away earlier? Surely, but there are matches every year that Bayern have to grind out, and this was one of them. Let’s hope Bayern can continue this great run of form into the spring, and get some great results against Dortmund and other top teams across all competitions.
