Thomas Muller

At the start of October, Bayern fans suffered a major shock as Thomas Muller was reportedly considering leaving the club in the winter window. The German forward also publicly insisted that things could change if he continues to get less playing time at the club.

Kovac’s departure changed things on his head. Flick decided to stick with Muller in the starting lineup over an extended period. The German forward didn’t disappoint his manager and started delivering top-class performances consistently. In fact, Muller has now become the creative force of the team. The aggressive pressing instilled by Flick has also helped Muller to be much more involved in the play even when the team is not dominating possession.

Muller currently has 15 assists to his name in the Bundesliga. He is working hard on the pitch, creating space for his teammates by making clever runs in the final third. The German forward is also linking up the play well in the final third, showing the shades of his peak. After the winter break, Muller has also started finding the back of the net as he has four goals to his name across all competitions in 2020.

From right flank to his favourite number ten position, Muller has been the main man for Flick in the last four months. He will play a huge role in Die Roten’s chances to bring the Champions League trophy back to Allianz Arena. On the back of these performances, it will take something dramatic to see him not extend his contract in Munich.
