Five backup strikers options for Bayern Munich in summer
Olivier Giroud
Bayern Munich were dominant against Chelsea, not conceding chances to Olivier Giroud and other forwards. The French striker showed some cute flicks and linked up well with Ross Barkley and Mason Mount, but Die Roten were just the better team on the day.
Giroud has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season due to the emergence of Tammy Abraham. The Frenchman was reportedly close to leaving Chelsea in January, but the club ended up keeping him after struggling to find a replacement.
Since the closure of the winter window, Giroud has got opportunities under Frank Lampard, and he has been impressive in these games. Giroud is not exactly a prolific striker, but he remains a brilliant link-up man in the final third. He also has a knack for scoring big goals. The Frenchman’s unique qualities make him an important player for France. Didier Deschamps used him perfectly in the last World Cup, and he is likely to be an important player for the World Champions in Euros this summer.
Giroud is set to become a free agent in summer. The Frenchman will be a great option to have a bench as he provides something different compared to Lewandowski. The former Arsenal striker may favour a move to Munich if he is promised a decent amount of playing time in Bavaria.
