Bayern Munich will have a plethora of options in summer if they decide to sign a backup striker.

It was a brilliant last week for Bayern Munich as they delivered a clinical performance in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie against Chelsea. However, this win was overshadowed by the serious injury suffered by Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski suffered a fracture in his tibia during the game. He did make an impact in the game by creating two goals and scoring one, but shrugging off the injury may have further worsened it. The Polish striker is expected to be out of action for at least four weeks.

Hansi Flick has some tactical options to combat the absence of Lewandowski. However, he has only one natural number nine option in Joshua Zirkzee. The teenager has shown his quality, but putting pressure on him to replace Lewandowski will be unfair.

Despite the emergence of Zirkzee, Die Roten may have to look for a backup number nine in summer. Lewandowski’s fitness levels are immense, but he will turn 32 next season, so his workload must be managed properly to prolong his career.

Moreover, the Polish forward has previously urged the club to sign a striker to improve the quality of the squad. Here are some of the number nine options that can give Bayern more flexibility in attack and are likely to be available in summer.
