Muller madness in false nine role

Thomas Muller has been the most improved player under Hansi Flick. The German forward has been a creative force for Die Roten as he links up play efficiently in the final third. He is also getting back that cutting edge in front of the goal as the German has scored three league goals in Ruckrunde.

Muller is turning back the clock and getting better every game. In the past, he has operated as a number nine, more like a false nine for Bayern and Germany. Since he is doing better for Flick in right-wing and number ten role, I wouldn’t be surprised him being played as a false nine in the upcoming league games.

The German forward gets into very good positions due to his clever movement in the final third. Muller is also able to create space for other players by stretching the defense with his runs. He ticks all the boxes for a perfect false nine. The only thing he lacks is the killer instinct in front of the goal.

There is no doubt that the current version of Muller will do well in this role. He has repaid the faith Flick has regularly shown in him since taking over the head coach role in November. An in-form Muller will be a sight to behold in that false nine position, but other players will have to chip in with goals if Flick decides to use this tactical tweak.
