The first leg of the tie between Bayern Munich and Chelsea could be defined by individual duels on the pitch.

Bayern Munich will kickstart their Champions League campaign on Tuesday as they travel to London to face Chelsea. The Bundesliga champions would ideally like to come home with away goals to have an edge in the second leg.

Die Roten have been mighty impressive in the Ruckrunde, winning five games out of six league games. They also progressed to the next round of the DFB Pokal with a narrow 4-3 win over Hoffenheim at Allianz Arena. Along with clinching victories, the overall performance of the team has been mighty impressive in the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, it has been a bumpy ride for Chelsea in the Premier League. After having a strong lead in the fourth position at the start of November, the London based side finds itself only three points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United. However, the weekend’s win over Tottenham Hotspurs will give them a much-needed boost ahead of the game against Bayern.

The last clash between Bayern and Chelsea was memorable for the latter and an unforgettable one for the former. A tie is hardly decided in the first leg, but some duels on Tuesday will set the tone for the outcome of this game.
