Will Coutinho return to good form before an important CL game?

One of the biggest disappointment for Bayern this season has been inconsistent performances from Philippe Coutinho. After making a solid start to life in Bavaria, the Brazilian has failed to kick on and take his game to the next level.

Since Niko Kovac‘s dismissal, Coutinho has struggled to get a consistent run in the team. Even in the cameos, he has failed to impress, making it much easier for Flick to opt for other players. The Brazilian forward is running out of time to secure a permanent move to Bayern.

However, Coutinho can redeem himself by delivering a solid performance against Paderborn. He is likely to get a start as Flick will rotate his squad. A strong performance on Friday can help Coutinho to make a strong case for featuring in the lineup against Chelsea.

When Coutinho arrived at Munich, he was expected to be a difference-make in the big Champions League games. Things have not gone as per the plan for the Brazil international, but Friday could be a breakthrough point for him if he grabs the opportunity with both hands. Playing in big CL games is a huge incentive, so it will be interesting to see how Coutinho fares in front of the home crowd later today.
