Solid start to Ruckrunde

After few positives off the pitch, Bayern had brilliant returns on the pitch. The Bavarians started Ruckrunde in the best possible way, by clinching victory away at Hertha Berlin. They rounded off the month by hammering Schalke at Allianz Arena.

Bayern’s preparation for the game against Hertha were poor as they suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat in a friendly game against Nurnberg FC. The team looked rusty against Hertha in the first half but turned the screw in the second half by scoring three goals.

The win against Hertha surely boosted Die Roten’s confidence, and they came out with all guns blazing against Schalke at Allianz Arena. Bayern were ruthless against Schalke as they scored five goals and could have had more. The most impressive aspect of Die Roten’s performance was the level of intensity and hunger maintained throughout the game.

Due to these two wins, Bayern moved up in the league table. They were also helped from other results as they ended January in the second position, trailing RB Leipzig by just one point. Bayern are on the right track to retain the Bundesliga title.
