Four takeaways as Bayern Munich hammer Schalke at Allianz Arena
Muller continues his superb form
It looked certain that Thomas Muller is going to have his worst season in Bavarian colours in October. The German forward was demoted to bench as Niko Kovac preferred Coutinho over him in the starting lineup.
Fast forward to three months, Muller is slowly racking up brilliant numbers and getting better in every game. The German forward was brilliant against Hertha as he kept on creating havoc in Schalke’s defense with his clever movement and passing. His linkup play has been consistent for more than a month.
Muller’s creativity has been one of the reasons behind their resurgence under Flick. The German is creating at least two-three big chances every game. He didn’t get an assist on Saturday, but there was a flurry of chances created by the German forward.
Since Muller is looking more and more confident after every passing game, his finishing is also showing a gradual increase. He was on the scoresheet against Schalke and Hertha. Both goals were a result of good positioning in the box and then, calmly slotting it past the goalkeeper. If Muller manages to keep his good form till the end of the season, then Die Roten have a good chance of winning the Bundesliga and go deep in the Champions League.
