Bixente Lizarazu

The final name on this list is a Bayern legend. Bixente Lizarazu is fondly remembered for his highly successful seven years in Bavaria from 1997 till 2004. He eventually decided to go back to France, joining Marseille at the start of the 2004/05 campaign.

To everyone’s surprise, his second stint in France lasted only for six months. Bayern announced in January 2005 that they had reached an agreement with Marseille to bring Lizarazu back to Bavaria. It was a surprise move as Lizarazu was 34 by that time.

Bayern turned out to be his last club at the top level. The French left-back lasted only one year during his second spell in Bavaria. Lizarazu made 31 appearances over the course of 18 months before announcing his retirement from the game.

In isolation, Lizarazu’s second transfer to Bayern was not fruitful despite being a dramatic one. His overall career at Bayern is worth appreciation as he represented the club for 273 times. He was also part of the famous Bayern team that won the Champions League in 2001/02.
