Midfielders

Thiago Alcantara — 6/10

Thiago has not been at his best this season. In 22 appearances across all competitions this season, Thiago has no goals to his name and has only two assists. To go along with his lack of production, he has made several costly mistakes when in possession. He still has the wicked footwork that gets him out of tight positions, but in this past Hindrunde, he has had more mistakes than positives.

Philippe Coutinho — 7/10

Philippe Coutinho has been very off and on this Hindrunde. In 22 matches in all competitions, the Brazilian has seven goals and seven assists, but those stats a bit misleading. Three of the goals and two of the assists came against Werder Bremen on Matchday 15. Coutinho has often shown flashes of brilliance, but in big games, he has often fallen short of expectation. The Bayern faithful will hope that Coutinho keeps up his goal contributions and impresses versus the high-quality Champions League opposition.

Mickael Cuisance — N/A

Mickael Cuisance has made two appearances for Die Roten this season. The French midfielder has impressed in training and his time will eventually come at Bayern, but he can not be rated for Hinrunde due to less game time.

Leon Goretzka — 5/10

Goretzka has been very inconsistent this season. He is yet to find his footing in the starting eleven. This is largely due to injuries as he only has fourteen appearances this year with two goals and two assists. Goretzka has competition in the midfield, so if he wants more game time, he’ll need to improve his performances.

Joshua Kimmich — 9/10

Kimmich has been impressive this season in defensive midfield and right-back positions. The midfielder has appeared in all 26 matches displaying a model of consistency at the highest level. His ability to anchor the midfield is truly underrated since he’s spent the last two years at right back. It’ll be great to see Kimmich grow into the midfield role, and lead this team in the future.

Thomas Muller — 8/10

Thomas Muller is enjoying a stellar season so far. He has been very influential in the final third, chipping in with five goals and twelve assists. Muller proves every year that his contributions are vital to the team, and he provides so much to the team off the ball. His movement provides space for Robert Lewandowski and the other forwards, and he is a tireless runner. The only complaint I have of Muller is to hunt for goals. If he can contribute more in the goal category, the Bayern attack would be lethal.

Sarpreet Singh — N/A

Sarpreet Singh was impressive for Bayern during the pre-season tour. He has been training with the first tea this season and made his debut against Werder Bremen in December. The sample size is small so it doesn’t make sense rating him at the moment.

Corentin Tolisso  — 8/10

Corentin has had a decent season till now, not great but not bad. He’s had some minor injuries but still managed to make16 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and creating four for his teammates. When he’s played, he has been incredibly consistent, and always runs hard for the team. When paired with a more defensive midfielder, he has shone as he gets more license to play closer to the final third. The Bayern midfield is stacked, so it will be interesting to see if he can get more game time as the season progresses.
