No more injuries in the second half of the season
It is not a typical Bayern Munich season if they don’t lose players for lengthy periods of time due to injuries. The 2019/20 campaign has been nothing different for Die Roten. Niko Kovac didn’t have a stable back four at the start of the season as David Alaba missed few weeks due to minor injuries.
Once Alaba returned to action and started playing games on a consistent basis, Niklas Sule ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. The German will not be playing again this season. Lucas Hernandez also suffered an ankle injury at the end of October, keeping him out for more than two months.
These defensive injuries meant that Bayern couldn’t have a fixed back four over a long run of games. Kingsley Coman and Jann Fiete-Arp suffered serious injuries in the first half of the season, while Leon Goretzka missed one month of action due to a hip injury. The final game of the year summed up Die Roten’s luck on the injury front as Javi Martinez suffered a thigh injury that will keep him out for six weeks.
These constant injuries had a massive say in the inconsistent performances from the team this season. The fans will be delighted if most of the injured players recover well during the winter break. Sule still needs a lot of time, so his availability this season is not possible. No more serious injuries in the second half of the season will be the biggest gift for Bayern fans as it will help the team to operate at their optimum level.
