Bayern Munich international break roundup- November 2019
The final international break of the year turned out to be fruitful for Bayern Munich players.
Germany
Germany booked their place in next year’s Euros in some style. In the first game of this international break, they blew Belarus apart by scoring four goals in the game. Manuel Neuer claimed the clean sheet against Belarus. Joshua Kimmich continued his impressive form in midfield as he dictated the proceedings from the number six position.
Leon Goretzka returned to the starting lineup after missing the initial four international games of this season due to injury. The German midfielder made an instant impact as he got on the scoresheet against Belarus. Serge Gnabry also had a good game, providing the assist for Matthias Ginter’s first goal for Germany.
After a good win against Belarus, Germany put Northern Ireland to sword earlier this week. Neuer was rested for this game while Kimmich dominated the midfield for 90 minutes. Goretzka found the back of the net twice against Northern Ireland. The German midfielder is slowly getting back to his best. Gnabry was the star performer in this game as he scored a hattrick. It was a productive two week period for Bayern’s German players.
Spain
Spain sealed their Euro qualification phase with two emphatic performances against Malta and Romania. The 2012 Euro winner scored 12 goals across two games. Thiago started in midfield against Malta and delivered a masterclass. The former Barcelona midfielder dictated the tempo of the game with his brilliant passing range. He played a mindboggling pass in 69th minute that led to Dani Olmo’s first international goal. Thiago eventually ended the game with two assists. He was an unused substitute against Romania.
