Benjamin Pavard

Another World Cup winner, the Frenchman who penned a five-year contract with Die Roten in the January transfer window officially joined the club in July 2019. Akin to his international counterpart, Lucas Hernandez, Pavard is also a dynamic defender who can be deployed either as a center-back or a right-back.

Accompanying his defensive abilities to cut passing lanes and win back possession with timely tackles, Pavard is often involved during the attack. As a right-back, he can be found overlapping on the flank alongside an inverted winger to put crosses into the box. He frequently moves up the pitch to press-high in the opposition’s half with the stamina and endurance to sprint back in his position, closing down the rivals in a counter.

The young defender also has a knack for scoring goals. Pavard scored his first goal for Bayern against Mainz in matchday 3, reminiscent to his goal of the tournament strike against Argentina in the 2018 World Cup.

Pavard seems to have provided solidity to Bayern’s defense making him a firm starter in Niko Kovac’s squad. Signed for a fee believed to be in the range of €35 million from Vfb Stuttgart, Benjamin Pavard is expected to be a star in the making with an exciting future.

In the current transfer market scenario with skyrocketing fees paid for players, Bayern has made this deal look like a bargain.

Bayern gets a solid 9/10 for sealing this deal.
