Bayern Munich had a busy summer transfer window as the Bundesliga champions added seven new faces in the squad.

Bayern’s senior executives along with the sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic and head coach, Niko Kovac had a pivotal role to play in the summer transfer window this summer. The prime target was to re-shape their squad, especially after the departure of the legendary duo of Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery, famously known as “Robbery” among the Bayern faithful.

The majority of Bayern’s summer transfer window revolved around the highly coveted German winger, Leroy Sane who almost appeared certain to join the record champions to fill the void left by “Robbery”. This was when fortunes did not favor Die Roten as they had to pull the plug on any potential deal for the former Schalke winger when he injured his right knee during Manchester City’s curtain-raiser clash against Liverpool in the Community Shield, sidelining him for the bulk of 2019/20 season due to a damaged anterior cruciate ligament.

Despite a seemingly failed attempt to add depth in the attacking department of their squad, FC Bayern managed to recruit three attacking players. The club’s net spent was close to €89.5 million, as they managed to raise funds from the sales of Renato Sanches and Mats Hummels.

After a good spending spree in summer, the Croatian’s key objective will be to retain domestic titles and take the German team deep into the Champions League. Taking these targets into account, we grade Bayern’s summer transfer activity.
