Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in negotiations over a potential move for 21-year-old Renato Sanches.

Bayern Munich have been hard at work over the January transfer window. There are going to be some major changes to the first team squad over the next six months, as older faces begin to make way for younger talents.

The Bavarians have already secured Benjamin Pavard for a summer move. They have now turned their attention to Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi after backing away from a winter move for Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez.

Die Roten are not actively looking to sell any first team player in the January window. This situation might change, however, as Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in Renato Sanches. According to RMCsport, the French league leaders have begun negotiations with the German champions to sign the 2016 Golden Boy. Thomas Tuchel is desperately looking for a midfield addition this month, and Sanches is one of his main targets for this position.

The report from France has been confirmed in Germany too. Sky Germany  reports that there has been a genuine effort from PSG to sign Sanches in this window. It further adds that the sporting directors of these two clubs have been in talks over a potential move for Sanches over the past few days. A deal is unlikely to materialize within the coming days, according to Sky, as the two clubs are about €15 million apart in their evaluation of the player’s worth.

Sanches was previously linked with PSG at the end of the summer transfer window. The French club didn’t make any offers to Bayern at that time, but they were keen to monitor Sanches’ situation in Munich.

It will be interesting to see if they continue to pursue the 21-year-old over the next few days. The Parisians might come up with a better offer for the Portugal international if they fail to land one of their other midfield targets. Barcelona’s announcement that Frenkie de Jong will be joining the Catalans in the summer could push PSG to move for Sanches.

It has been difficult two years for the Portuguese international. He chose to joing Bayern ahead of a host of various top clubs in 2016. However, this transfer has not exactly panned out how the young midfielder or the club would have hoped. He went on loan to Swansea City last season but struggled with injuries and form during his time in Wales.

Sanches was expected to leave Bayern in the summer, but Niko Kovac was determined to keep him and get the best out of him in Bavaria. The Portuguese starlet has not been a regular player for Die Roten this season, but his performances have certainly improved. He is happy to work under Kovac but still wants more minutes than he is getting right now. PSG would be an exciting option for Sanches, but Kovac will be hoping that he remains patient and develops well at Bayern.
