James Rodriguez

Bayern Munich were linked with several big players last summer, as they were trying to sign a marquee attacking player. The Bavarians eventually decided to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on an initial two-year loan deal with an option to make it a permanent transfer. Carlo Ancelotti insisted for this transfer as he had enjoyed working with James at Real Madrid.

James initially struggled at Bayern, as he was adapting to a new league. He worked hard after Ancelotti’s departure to get back into the starting lineup, and Thomas Muller’s injury paved a way back into the team for James. The Colombian grabbed this opportunity by both hands and never looked back. By the end of the season, he became Bayern’s most important player, ending the campaign with seven goals and 14 assists in all competitions.

The attacking midfielder is now loving life in Germany and has completely adapted to the Bundesliga.

Bayern have a brilliant player on their books who is just entering the peak of his career. While Robert Lewandowski may remain the talisman for Bayern in the final third, James is the club’s most creative player. It’s not implausible to think James should be able to achieve a target of around 40 combined goals and assists this season. He could be the game-changer for Bayern and help them in winning the Champions League this season.
