Five Bayern Munich players who could be in for a big season

Bayern Munich have a very good squad, but these five players could become the Bavarians’ most important players this season.

Bayern Munich kicked off their season in a perfect manner by clinching an emphatic 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in DFL Supercup nearly two weeks ago. Bayern also began their DFB Pokal campaign by gaining a narrow win over fourth division side Drochtersen/Assel.

These two games witnessed different performances from the players, as they are still adapting to new methods under Niko Kovac. The Bavarians begin their Bundesliga title defense against Hoffenheim tomorrow and must be at their best to start the season in the right direction.

Kovac has started a new era at the club in the best possible way. Bayern Munich have enjoyed much domestic success in last five seasons. They have failed to win the DFB Pokal in the past two seasons, though. Kovac’s minimum target for this season will be to win the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, but success in Europe would be the cherry on top.

Bayern have struggled to win the Champions League since their historic treble in 2013. The German champions have failed at the penultimate hurdle four out of the last five years. Bayern will be hoping to hit an extra gear this season and go all the way in the Europe.

Bayern are yet to spend a penny in this transfer window, though. Leon Goretzka has joined the club on a free transfer after running down his contract at Schalke. Serge Gnabry can also be considered a new signing, having returned to the club after a successful loan spell at Hoffenheim. Regardless, it is going to be an exciting season for Bayern fans. Here are five players who could be key players at the club this season.
