Arturo Vidal leaves Bayern Munich training camp amid Barcelona links

Arturo Vidal, who looks set to join Barcelona within the next day or two, left Bayern Munich training early along with Hasan Salihamidzic.

Bayern Munich are on the verge of selling their first player this summer. Arturo Vidal, who initially looked to be joining Inter Milan, is now on the verge of joining Spanish champions Barcelona.

The Catalans hijacked Inter’s deal for Vidal at the last second. While the Italian side was looking to secure a loan deal with an obligation to buy, Barcelona approached Bayern with a straightforward purchase that met the Bavarians’ asking price.

Now, according to Sport Bild, Arturo Vidal has left Bayern’s summer training camp early along with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Although there’s no guarantee the two are heading off to complete the player’s transfer, that is believed to be the case.

Sport Bild suggest that Vidal and Brazzo are heading to Barcelona, where the final details of the transfer will be ironed out and the Chilean will complete his medical.

If all goes according to plan, Bayern will receive €30 million from the Blaugranas and Vidal will sign a three-year contract, earning around €9 million a year.

Earlier this summer, Barcelona were heavily linked with a Bayern Munich midfielder, but it wasn’t Arturo Vidal. Thiago Alcantara, a product of La Masia, was rumored to want a return to his former club.

With the Vidal deal near completion, though, Thiago’s chances of joining Barcelona have slimmed significantly. In fact, it’d be surprising to see the Spaniard leave this summer. He was one of the handful of players listed for sale earlier this year, but he now seems to be an important part of Niko Kovac’s plans for this season.

Meanwhile, no further updates have emerged regarding Jerome Boateng’s potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. It was reported earlier this week that the Parisians had agreed terms with Boateng’s agent and were in advanced negotiations with Bayern Munich. It would be no surprise to see his deal completed shortly after Vidal’s transfer to Barcelona goes through.
