Although they still finish their UCL group in second place, Bayern Munich make an emphatic statement, defeat PSG 3-1 at the Allianz Arena.
Manager Grade
Jupp Heynckes — B+
Tactically, the German got it exactly right, doing what Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t in comfortably defeating the PSG. Bayern Munich looked the better team for the majority of the match and got the result to prove that. Perhaps if the game had a little more ramifications, Jupp would have played Javi Martinez in Sebastian Rudy’s stead. Regardless, Jupp gets extra points for what he has made of Kingsley Coman.
Player Grades
GK, Sven Ulreich — B+
He may not have kept a clean sheet, but Ulreich played a huge role in this match. He made several important saves at important moments and even made some Neuer-esque clearances well outside his box. The sweeper-keeper himself would have been proud of this performance.
DEF, David Alaba — B-
Slowly working his way back to full fitness, the Austrian put in a much-improved performance against the Parisians than in their last meeting.
DEF, Mats Hummels — B
Class personified both on and off the pitch, Hummels was completely solid at the back and worked well going forward. Unfortunately, his one defensive blip resulted in Mbappe’s goal.
DEF, Niklas Sule — B-
Worked well alongside his German center-back partner. His performance might not have stolen any headlines, but he did what was expected of him. The 22-year-old is proving a competent fill-in for Jerome Boateng.
DEF, Joshua Kimmich — C
Not a great game from the Kid. After receiving an undeserved yellow card early on, Kimmich was forced to play much less aggressively than usual. His crosses also weren’t quite up to their high standard.
MID, Sebastian Rudy — C-
Easily Rudy’s worst performance in Bayern red, the midfielder was poor in possession, giving the ball away far too frequently. He made up for it, however, with some good defensive work. Far overshadowed by his partner in defensive midfield.
MID, Corentin Tolisso — A-
It wasn’t perfect, but Tolisso definitely played like a man out with a point to prove. Both of his two goals were wonderfully finished after perfectly timed runs. The Frenchman definitely played up to his title as Bayern’s most expensive signing, but his defensive contribution could use some work.
MID, Franck Ribery — C+
Ribery certainly could have had better return from injury after missing several weeks out. Unlike his young compatriot on his opposite flank, Ribery never proved much of a threat to the PSG defense.
MID, James Rodriguez — A-
Once again at the heart of all things Bayern Munich did, the Colombian is becoming one of die Roten‘s most important and influential players. Led the team in touches (80), tackles and key passes (both 4), James also grabbed an assist thanks to his pinpoint cross to Tolisso’s head.
MID, Kingsley Coman — A
Another great performance from the French winger who was man-of-the-match in Bayern’s win over Hannover at the weekend. Coman’s always been a huge threat in one-on-one situations, but today he showed his ability as a creator as well, setting up two of Bayern’s three goals.
FWD, Robert Lewandowski — B-
Often isolated at the forefront of Bayern’s attack, Lewandowski was largely starved for chances. He put away the best chance that came his way, though, and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Subs
MID, Thomas Muller — C+
Added a bit of dynamism to the Bayern attack, but made little contribution to match precedings.
MID, Arturo Vidal — N/A
Joined the game with only eight minutes remaining.
DEF, Rafinha — N/A
Came in just after Vidal. Other than one storming run down the left flank that only resulted in a Bayern corner, the full-back made little impact.
