Bayern Munich host Wolfsburg in the second Bundesliga game of this week.

The reigning Bundesliga champions have already played two games in the last week. In these two games, Bayern Munich delivered good performances against Mainz and Schalke. The Bavarians will be hoping to cap off this period with a win over Wolfsburg on Friday.

After a disappointing defeat against Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich have responded in an emphatic way. Carlo Ancelotti’s men now sit second in the Bundesliga, a point behind their rivals Borussia Dortmund.

On the other hand Wolfsburg are enduring a torrid time in the Bundesliga. The visitors have sacked Andreas Joncker and hired Martin Schmidt within the past week. Wolfsburg have won just one game in the league till now, and — courtesy of this poor results — they sit 13th in the table.

Team News-

Bayern Munich suffered a big blow earlier this week as Manuel Neuer suffered another foot injury. The Bayern captain has been ruled out for three months and is not expected to play again until January. Arjen Robben will return to the squad after missing out on the game against Schalke due to flu.

Carlo Ancelotti revealed in his pre-game press conference that Thiago Alcantara will miss the game against Wolfsburg due to a minor knock. David Alaba and Juan Bernat remain on the sidelines due to their respective injuries.

Predicted XI-

Sven Ulreich spoke confidently about replacing Neuer after Tuesday’s game against Schalke. The German will feature again on Friday as he is in line to be the number one in absence of Neuer. Joshua Kimmich and Rafinha will occupy the full-back positions, while Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels form the center-back partnership.

In the midfield, Ancelotti is likely to deploy Arturo Vidal along with Corentin Tolisso. The Italian has been favoring a 4-2-3-1 formation in the past couple matches. Thomas Muller will take up the attacking midfield position against Wolfsburg.

Robben will be fresh for this game against Wolfsburg so he will start on the right hand side. Kingsley Coman will occupy the left hand side while Robert Lewandowski will lead the line. Ancelotti will keep an eye on the midweek game against Paris Saint Germain and accordingly rotate his key players.

Opposition Focus-

Wolfsburg have been struggling lately but they have several exciting young players who can hurt Bayern Munich on the counter. The highly rated Riechedly Bazoer has an eye for a good pass from deeper positions which can help in splitting the defence.

The visitors can also be threathening on setpieces as they have two good strikers in Mario Gomez and Divock Origi. Wolfsburg earned a draw on Tuesday in their first game under Schmidt. Bayern will have to be careful with their attitude for this game as, despite being in poor form, Wolfsburg players will be motivated to do well under their new manager.
