Bayern Munich’s midfield Warrior is wanted by both Milan sides as he heads into the final few years of his contract.
Over the past few seasons Arturo Vidal has been one of Bayern Munich’s most important players. The combative Chilean is a mainstay of the Bavarian starting XI and has been since joining the side in 2015.
Despite his importance to the German giants, Vidal was nevertheless linked to several clubs this past summer. The biggest links, however, were those suggesting the midfielder would swap Munich for Milan.
Both AC Milan and their cross-town rivals Inter Milan showed interest in the Chilean Warrior over the summer months. However, Bayern Munich showed no interest in giving up their hard-working box-to-box man.
Recent reports suggest, though, that the Milan sides are not giving up on their pursuit of Arturo Vidal. Per a report from Tuttosport (via ESPNFC), AC Milan and Inter Milan are set to battle for the signature of Arturo Vidal next summer.
Vidal will only have one year left on his contract at the end of the ’17-18 season, and the Milan sides will hope they can tempt Bayern to cash in on him. By that time Vidal will already be 31-years-old, and perhaps retirement will already be looming in his mind.
But that is doubtful. Just as it is doubtful that Bayern Munich have any plans to rid themselves of one of the world’s best midfielders. Even with the return of Renato Sanches and the possible inclusion of other midfielders (Leon Goretzka), it is hard to imagine Bayern letting go of Arturo Vidal.
He’s an experienced Champions League midfielder and can make the difference in important matches. Vidal is an important cog in the Bayern machine. That could change over the course of a year, but unless something drastic happens, don’t expect to see him out of Bavaria anytime soon.
