Additions have been made to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena ahead of the ’17-18 season with the most notable being a massive digital screen.

With the Allianz Arena being vacated by Munich’s second-best soccer club, 1860 Munich, Bayern Munich now have full control over the stadium. Well, not yet technically. But it’s coming. The Munich blues have been relegated all the way down to the fourth tier of German soccer and will be forced to find a new place to play their matches for the next season, having shared the Allianz Arena with Bayern for some time now.

This means that Die Roten are the only permanent residents of the Allianz Arena. And the timing could not be any more perfect. A few months back, it was reported that Bayern was planning a massive €10 million upgrade to their home turf.

Those reports are now playing out, as Bayern Munich have the freedom to do as they wish with the stadium. Cosmetic changes aren’t the only ones being made though. A huge digital screen has also been installed at the Allianz Arena. How huge? Well, it’s the biggest digital screen in Europe.

Other than simply accommodating fans and increasing the overall aesthetic value of the stadium, these additions are being made in the hopes of securing another European final at the venue sometime in the near future. The best competitions hold their finals at the best locations. And Bayern Munich want to make the Allianz Arena just that.

The best part of this whole construction? Bayern’s social media work. West Ham’s official Twitter account attempted to hit out at Bayern over their construction, and the Bayern response was brutal.

That just goes to show you, don’t mess with the best. The additions to Bayern’s Allianz Arena are great. However, they’re worth nothing if the team itself is not also improving. After a disappointing ’16-17 campaign, Carlo Ancelotti and co. will surely be doing all they can to ensure this upcoming season yields different results.
