Number Four: Borussia Dortmund 0-2 Bayern Munich (German Supercup)

Much like with the last match, this game was not massively important to Bayern Munich. However, it was a game in which silverware was on the line. Plus it was a Klassiker match. Those two facts alone already give the matchup at least some importance. Add to it that it was Carlo Ancelotti’s first competitive match as Bayern Munich’s manager and you have yourself a quality game.

Die Roten did not give the best performance from top to bottom and will undoubtedly be thankful for goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Were it not for the world’s greatest number one, then the outcome of this match could have gone very differently.

Dortmund were the better team for large portions of the match and seemed set to walk away with the victory. But Bayern–thanks to their trademark determination–found a way to get the win.

Arturo Vidal banged home the first before Muller bagged the second after a great header from Mats Hummels (his competitive debut for the club). It was a great game for Bayern fans and set the club off on their campaign on a good note.
