Most improved player of the season: Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich is among the most promising young players in Europe. His ability to play and excel in both midfield and defense highlight his versatility. However, versatility would mean nothing if it did not also yield results. Joshua is not only capable of playing both positions, but he is capable of playing them extremely well.

He was a breakout star last season under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. This season he has only built upon that success and stepped up as one of Bayern Munich’s best players.

Along with Thiago, Kimmich recorded the third highest amount of goals for Bayern over the course of the season (they each had six). A couple of these goals were even game winners for the Bavarians. An impressive feat for a player who doesn’t even play in the attack.

However, it is alarming how little Ancelotti played Kimmich throughout the second half of the season. He is clearly ready for more first-team game-time and should always be considered to make the team sheet.

Kimmich has even spoken out about his lack of playing time, but the club too has assured Bayern fans that the Kid is going nowhere. Rightfully so. Letting go of a talent like Kimmich would be beyond foolish for the German giants.
