Manager Grade

CARLO ANCELOTTI. A+. After such a disappointing April, many eyes were on the Italian manager ahead of this match. The pressure did not phase Ancelotti at all, however, and he got both his squad selection and tactics spot on. Choosing to play Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich over the squad’s veterans like Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribery. The two youngsters proved their worth and were among the best players on the pitch in the Volkswagen Arena. This squad may still have some work to do, but Ancelotti is already showing signs that he’s prepared to do what it takes to ensure next season is not another disappointing one.. Manager. Player Grades

B. Rarely tested between the sticks, but still did well when called upon. Ulreich will be happy that he was fortunate enough to be on the pitch when Bayern wrapped up yet another Bundesliga title.. GK. Bayern Munich. SVEN ULREICH

A-. Much better than in recent weeks, it was the Austrian’s free-kick that opened the scoring for the Bavarians. Alaba was a constant threat on the left flank and was equally solid defensively–both when playing left-back and center-back.. LB. Bayern Munich. DAVID ALABA

B. After a poor showing in this past week’s Klassiker, Javi was much better today. Never looked like allowing the Wolfsburg attack to get the better of him.. CB. Bayern Munich. JAVI MARTINEZ

B. The German international had a quiet day at the office in defense. In fact, his most notable moments came when Hummels surged forward in typical fashion and made some well-placed passes.. CB. Bayern Munich. MATS HUMMELS

PHILIPP LAHM (C). B-. Captain Lahm secured his eighth ever Bundesliga title, tying a record held by former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger and a few other Bundesliga legends. His performance was one expected from Lahm. Nothing flashy, just an overall solid game from the Bavarian legend.. RB. Bayern Munich

THIAGO . B+. A stroll in the park for the Spanish playmaker, who quietly dominated the middle of the park along with Joshua Kimmich. He may not have directly contributed to any of the goals, but Thiago’s presence was definitely felt on the pitch.. CDM. Bayern Munich

Joshua Kimmich will undoubtedly be absolutely delighted with the way today’s match played out. The wunderkind has found himself too often left out of the starting XI and proved today exactly why he should always be considered for a spot. His goal was expertly finished, but not at all the highlight of his match. Kimmich’s 121 touches was far and away a game high and provide testament to just how dominant the German international was on the day.. CDM. Bayern Munich. JOSHUA KIMMICH. A

A. Yet another young player who definitely proved his worth today. Coman just signed a permanent deal with the Bavarians, and–it today is any indication–the club is all the better for it. Coman used his lightning pace and clever dribbling to do whatever he pleased on the left flank. He was unfortunate to “only” register one assist and could have scored one of his own. However, this was much better from the French international who showed exactly how good he can be.. LM. Bayern Munich. KINGSLEY COMAN

A-. Once again proving that he is undeniably brilliant at the number 10 role, Thomas Muller was all over the attacking side of the pitch for Bayern Munich. He won the free-kick for Alaba’s opener and then later found Lewandowski with a beautiful cut-back cross to gather his 11th Bundesliga assist of the season. His goal for Bayern’s fifth was classic Muller, placing himself at the right place at the right time to tap home into an open net. For Bayern Munich to succeed more next season, Ancelotti must find a consistent place for the Bavarian in the starting XI.. CAM. Bayern Munich. THOMAS MULLER

RM. Bayern Munich. ARJEN ROBBEN. B+. It took a while for Robben to really get into the match, but when he did it was a classic day from the Flying Dutchman. He both scored and assisted a goal, and not much more could have been asked out of the age-defying right midfielder.

A-. Bayern Munich’s goal-scoring aficionado is back to his goal-scoring ways. His first goal was particularly nice, firing home expertly from Muller’s low cross. This is the kind of game Bayern Munich fans love to see from their number nine.. ST. Bayern Munich. ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI

Subs

N/A. By the time Bernat came into the match there was nothing left for him to do.. LB. Bayern Munich. JUAN BERNAT (67')

N/A. The Brazilian right back came in and immediately went to work, but did not put in enough time to warrant a grade.. RB. Bayern Munich. RAFINHA (70')

Bayern Munich. RENATO SANCHES. N/A. The Portuguese midfielder surely wanted to get on the score sheet, but unfortunately could not. With the Bundesliga title all wrapped up, hopefully we will be able to see more of him in the next few games.. CDM
