Bayern Munich put four past Borussia Dortmund in a one sided Der Klassiker on Saturday.

The Bavarians maintain their perfect home record in Bundesliga as they keep a lead of ten points at the top of the league. Bayern Munich probably had their most convincing performance in a big game this season on Saturday.

Carlo Ancelotti went with the strongest eleven despite Wednesday’s game against Real Madrid. Mats Hummels started on the bench against his former side. Kingsley Coman made way for Franck Ribery in the starting lineup while Thiago Alcantara made the comeback in midfield.

The home side started brightly as they were bombing forward to get the early goal. However Ousmane Dembele caught Bayern on counter and after brilliant wing play on the right hand side, his shot went across the face of the goal.

Ancelotti’s men got their noses front at third minute of the game. After some brilliant link up play on the right between  Thiago, Arjen Robben and Lahm, the German squared the ball for Ribery. The Frenchman slotted the ball powerfully past Roman Burki.

Bayern doubled their lead through a freekick at 10th minute after Ribery was fouled by Marc Bartra just close to the box. Robert Lewandowski curled the ball over the wall and beating Burki quiet easily. Dortmund’s defence was all over the place as Bayern were running riot in the final third.

After a couple of minutes, Robben was a whisker away from getting the third as his trademark move and shot was just wide from the target. The Dutchman was terrorising Marcel Schmelzer as he was able to get his shot on goal frequently.

However against the run of play, Dortmund got one goal back at 20 minute mark. Pierre Emrick Aubameyang delivered a cross in the box which was kept in play by Felix Passalack. Passalack’s squared ball was cleared poorly by Arturo Vidal. This clearance was drilled back into the net by Raphael Guerreiro who was arriving at the edge of the box.

Despite concedeing the goal, Bayern were dominating the game and moving the ball quickly in the final third. Robben had a couple of shots tipped away by Burki while Lewandowski had his shot missed the target by inches. The Bavarians finished the half with a flurry as they kept on peppering Dortmund’s goal.

Bayern started the second half in the same way they started the first. Ancelotti’s men got back the two goal cushion as Robben was finally rewarded for his electrifying performance. The Dutchman got past Schmelzer and then able to to cut inside with a curling shot past Burki to finish the move. A proper vintage Robben goal.

The home side were dominating the game and Dortmund was hardly getting a sniff. Aubameyang came close to bring Dortmund back in the game as his shot was cleared off the line from Jerome Boateng. Bayern sealed the game quickly after that as Lewandowski was brought down by Burki. The Polish forward converted the penalty and now leads the goalscoring chart in Bundesliga.

It was now just a matter of time as Bayern were seeing out the game now. Robben was on song in this game as he provided a lovely pass for Joshua Kimmich. However Kimmich’s dink over the goalkeeper was not on target. In the final minutes of the game Sven Ulreich denied Christian Pulisic to get one more consolation goal for Dortmund.

Bayern Munich responded brilliantly after the defeat against Hoffenheim. The Bavarians  were brilliant offensively and solid defensively throughout the game. Ancelotti’s men will be confident going into the game against Real Madrid on Wednesday after such a dominant display against Dortmund.
