Caught standing on a few occasions, Martinez’ poor marking was bailed out by Hummels early in the first half. Like Martinez, Hummels did not have the best of performances, but his quick thinking and hustle saved Bayern Munich from conceding on Frankfurt’s best chance. He expertly timed his slide tackle to knock the ball clear at just the right moment. For that piece of play alone (which is just as good as a goal at the other end) Hummels’ grade gets boosted.. CB. Muller’s quick thinking and determination saw him turn a seemingly wasted chance into a goal, as he tracked down a loose ball and expertly found Lewandowski for the opener.
