Bayern Munich deny approach for Borussia Monchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl.

Karl Heinz Rummenugge admitted that the club has not made any approach for Eberl for the Sporting director role. Bayern Munich are likely to make an appointment in this post after this season.

The position has been vacant since Mathias Sammer left it due to health problems. Philipp Lahm was touted for the role after he announced his retirement at the end of the season. However, the right-back rejected the offer. While talking to Sky Germany, Rummenigge admitted that the club have not searched for another candidate after Lahm rejected the offer.

"“We have no contact either with the club or with Max Eberl, there is nothing at all.”“Bayern had an option- which unfortunately has not worked out – and we do not have a Plan B solution in the drawer.”"

There have been numerous reports in Germany suggesting that Bayern have identified Eberyl as the appropriate candidate.

However Monchengladbach will do all they can to keep Eberyl at the club. Rummenigge also admitted that the club will not pay any price for the director and will look for candidates who are out of contract.

"“If I came with such an idea to the supervisory board, they would call me crazy,”“It is known that Max has a contract in Gladbach until 2020. It would be dubious for us to talk about their sporting director in front of Monchengladbach in public, and we will not do so in the future either – because we have a good relationship with Gladbach. Maybe we can get a sporting director who is not under any contract.”"

The Sporting director role is very important for Bayern. They have progressed efficiently under Sammer. Bayern will be hoping to compete with the riches of England and Spain with a proper appointment in summer.
