Bayern Munich drop points in Bundesliga as they suffer yet another draw, this time against Hertha Berlin in Berlin.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men suffered their fifth draw in Bundesliga. Bayern Munich stretched their lead to eight points at the top of the table as RB Leipzig play their game on Sunday. The Bavarians also extend their unbeaten run in the league to nine games.

Ancelotti made few changes to the starting lineup which won 5-1 against Arsenal on Wednesday. Juan Bernat came back into the lineup in place of Javi Martinez as David Alaba was switched to the centerback position. Joshua Kimmich replaced Xabi Alonso in the midfield while Thomas Muller lead the forward line in place of Robert Lewandowski.

The home side started brightly as they got the first chance of the game as they came close to open the scoring from the corner. Bayern began to regain the control of the game as they started dominating possession. However Hertha were looking dangerous on counter and it was a bright start for both the sides.

Hertha got the reward for the positive play as they got the first goal of the game. The hosts won a freekick just near the corner after Arturo Vidal committed a foul. The setpiece was delivered perfectly by Marvin Plattenhardt and finished by Vedad Ibisevic. Muller lost his man as Ibisevic poked the ball into the net from close range.

The home side was now sitting deep as Bayern Munich started piling pressure. However Ancelotti’s men were lacking a edge in the final third and most of the shots were aimed straight at the goalkeeper. Hertha came close to add a second goal from corner as Ibisvec found the net from an offside position.

Bayern started the second half poorly as the back four was all over the place. Hertha were able to break numerous times, however the poor decisions in the final third was not able to give them the second goal. Ibisvec was causing the Bayern centrebacks as his poked attempt from a good cross missed the goal by inches.

The Bavarians were timid in the most parts of the second half. Lahm was the best player on the pitch for Bayern summed up the afternoon for the forwards. However they came close to score the equalizer two minutes before the 90 minute mark, when Alaba’s freekick was saved brilliantly by the goalkeeper.

Ancelotti’s men clinched the equalizer in the fifth minute of the added time. Kingsley Coman won a freekick just at the edge of the box after some good work on the left flank. Thiago squared the ball from the freekick for Robben and the Dutchman’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper. However the rebound was poked in the net by Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern got out of the jail, but they will be disappointed as they drop points again. Ancelotti will be disappointed with the performance after a brilliant outing in the Champions League. The defending Champions still look rusty in Bundesliga and the Italian needs to sort things sooner rather than later.
