Bayern Munich will play FC Augsburg twice in four days, and these matches will be critical for Bayern Munich as they hope to progress in the DFB-Pokal Cup and repeat a domestic double.

FC Augsburg travels to Allianz Arena today to play Bayern Munich in their first of two games this week against the Bavarian giants.  This first match will be an important indicator as to how the tournament will unfold for Bayern as they seek to play in the DFB-Pokal Cup Final in Berlin

In Bayern’s last DFB-Pokal Cup match, they beat Carl Zeiss Jena 5-0 thanks to a Robert Lewandowski hat trick . It was an impressive showing for Bayern,  and was a game that helped characterize Carlo Ancelotti’s early success with the club.   A definitive win here could help Bayern Munich gain more momentum in the Bundesliga and heading into more Champions League matches.

In the previous 12 meetings between the two sides, Bayern has one 10.  Ancelotti’s side will also look to extend their unbeaten run in Allianz Arena to 17 matches.

This will be Bayern’s second straight week with a midweek game and they also have one next week against PSV in Champions League play.  This means some players who don’t normally see lots of playtime could get more minutes as Ancelotti rests up his big stars. Therefore, who will make it into Bayern Munich’s starting Xl?
