Four Bayern Munich Players Shortlisted For 2016 Ballon D’Or

Bayern Munich have four players in the 30 man shortlist for the prestigious Ballon D’Or award for performances in 2016.

The four players nominated for Bayern Munich are Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski and Arturo Vidal. France Football announced their complete shortlist on Monday.

Bayern had a mixed season last year. The Bavarians were able to retain the Bundesliga title for the fourth consecutive time. They also won the DFB Pokal cup, while lost the DFL Supercup game against Borussia Dortmund. In Champions League, Bayern reached till semifinal after losing it against Athletico Madrid.

Manuel Neuer had yet another good season with the German Champions. He also reached

semifinals of Euros 2016 with Germany which were held in France. He was able to keep 20 cleansheets for his team in the lleague. Neuer pulled off some brilliant saves throughout the season proving that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Thomas Muller delivered yet another efficient year for both club and country. He had similar teamachievements as Neuer on club and country level. Muller grabbed 32 goals in 49 games across all competitions for Bayern.  He also contributed 5 goals in 13 appearences for Germany. Muller remains the main man for Germany and Bayern Munich.

Robert Lewandowski has started this season the way he had left last one. The Polish striker is among the best strikers in the world as he scored a staggering 42 goals in 51 games for Bayern. He rounded off an impressive year with good performance with Poland at Euros. His team was able to reach till quarterfinal where they lost to Portugal in a penalty shootout.

Arturo Vidal moved to Bayern Munich last summer from Juventus. The box to box midfielder was able to win silverware with Bayern in first season. He delivered impressive displays for the German Champions throughout the season. Vidal inspiring performances for Chile helped them to win Copa America Centenario.

This wis a brief profile of each player based on their performances last season which helped them in getting a name in the 30 man shortlist. The winner of the award will be declared on 9th January 2017.
