Is Manchester City Looking to Buy Bayern Munich Stars?
When Pep Guardiola went to Manchester City, he certainly did not forget about the players he coached at Bayern Munich. Rumor has it that his new club is looking at potentially making bids for two Bayern Munich players: Kingsley Coman and David Alaba.
Rumors have circulated for a few weeks that Pep Guardiola is keeping an eye on Kingsley Coman. Guardiola brokered a deal with Juventus to get Coman at Bayern Munich for a two-year loan with the option to buy at the end of the deal. However, since Guardiola has left Bayern Munich, he appears to be missing the fast Frenchmen. Coman has struggled under Carlo Ancelotti and has yet to play a full 90 minutes for the Italian.
However, UK news outlet The Sun reported that Manchester City may be prepared to make a bid on another Bayern Munich player as well. Manchester City may be prepared to make a £40 million bid for David Alaba, the Austrian full back, who is renowned as one of the best in his position. Manchester City have reportedly opened up talks with the Bayern right back about making the move next summer.
Guardiola was with Alaba for 3 years while he was at Bayern, and he certainly misses the versatile defender and midfielder. He has instructed Manchester City to acquire two new outside fullbacks, and stealing Alaba away from Bayern Munich would be a tremendous signing for the English side. Manchester City has struggled with defending their wings and have found themselves giving up goals directly caused by outside back errors. Alaba would ensure that at least one side of their defense would be fortified, while also providing meaningful contributions to City’s attack.

Manchester City would benefit from signing either one, if not both, of these Bayern Munich stars. The question becomes whether or not Ancelotti will be willing to part with them. It seems that Coman may have an easier route away from Bayern, but Ancelotti may want Alaba to stick around for a bit longer.
