Bayern Munich opened the 2016-2017 Bundesliga season with a dominating 6-0 win over Werder Bremen to secure Carlo Ancelotti’s first of hopefully many Bundesliga wins.

It did not take Bayern Munich long to assert their continued dominance over the Bundesliga. Despite copious injuries, Bayern Munich managed a 6-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen.  There were a lot of questions going into this game about whether Bayern could overcome injuries and still be great, and this game put those questions to rest.

It took Bayern Munich 9 minutes to score in Carlo Ancelotti’s first Bundesliga game as a head coach. Xavi Alonso hit a stunning 25 yard volley straight into the back of Bremen’s net, and there was little the keeper could do to stop it.

This was one of the major themes of the game, Bremen let Bayern midfielder’s have basically uncontested passes and shots throughout the game.  This lead to a complete domination for Bayern Munich because their midfielders could distribute the ball as they wanted, with little defensive pressure.

The goal that sealed the win for Bayern came in the 13th minute from Robert Lewandowski.  The Polish international, made the Bremen defense pay for a poorly executed offside trap. He found himself alone in the box, where he promptly buried a shot in the side netting of the goal, putting Bayern Munich up 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of the game.

But Bayern and Lewandowski did not stop there.  Lewandowski went on to score again in the 46th minute.  Phillip Lahm found the net in the 66th minute and Franck Ribery found his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute.  Lewandowski finished the tallying with a penalty kick in the 77th minute, giving him the first hat trick of Bayern’s season and the Bundesliga.

This result gives Bayern a boost going into the rest of the year, as well as the Champions League and it makes Bayern fans even more excited about Ancelotti’s future with the club.
