The last few weeks have seen a lot of debate surrounding the vaccination status of players in the Bayern Munich squad. Joshua Kimmich confirmed in October that he is yet to get vaccinated since he wants to know more about the long-term effects of the vaccination. The German midfielder’s decision has been respected by the club, but he has been heavily criticised in the media.

Over the last weekend, it was reported that Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Mickael Cuisance, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are the non-vaccinated players in the current squad. Moreover, leaks in the media also revealed that Die Roten is not paying wages for unvaccinated players during the period of quarantine.

All these five players have been in quarantine since the weekend after coming in contact with one of the infected staff at the club. Die Roten confirmed on Wednesday that the veteran forward has tested positive for COVID-19, while Kimmich has also reportedly tested positive for the virus. It is unlikely that these two players will be available for the clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Julian Nagelsmann had expressed disappointment about things getting leaked from the club. However, the situation can be soon resolved if the latest developments from Germany are to be believed.

According to Kicker, Musiala and Gnabry have taken the first dose of vaccination. Gnabry will not have to take one more dose, since he already had COVID, while Musiala’s second dose will come around winter break. Moreover, Bild is reporting that Cuisance and Kimmich are also leaning towards getting the vaccine. Germany head coach Hansi Flick has also confirmed that Kimmich is inclining towards taking the vaccination. The vaccine situation remains unclear around Choupo-Moting.

Nagelsmann did admit in the post-match press conference that it will be a step in the right direction if Musiala and Gnabry have taken the first dose of vaccination. The outside noise will be finally over once all players are vaccinated.

The German coach has consistently insisted that the team has not been affected due to a wide range of debates surrounding the vaccination of players in the media. However, it is better to not give people a chance to criticise players and affect their morale, which could eventually impact the performances of the team.

Meanwhile, Niklas Sule and Josip Stanisic are back in training for the German Champions. Sule was tested positive for COVID-19 at the start of the international break. Meanwhile, Stanisic was in isolation during last week after he came in contact with one of the staff at the Croatian team that was tested positive for the virus.

The return of Sule is a big boost for Nagelsmann ahead of the clash against Arminia Bielefeld. The defending Bundesliga champions are already sweating over the fitness of Lucas Hernandez and Tanguy Nianzou as the French duo suffered injuries against Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.
