Bayern Munich should keep Mickael Cuisance despite interest from Leeds United.

Ahead of the final week of the transfer window, Bayern Munich has suffered a big setback as Sergino Dest is set to join Barcelona instead of moving to Bavaria. The German Champions could also lose a first-team player before deadline day as Leeds United steps up their interest in Mickael Cuisance.

According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Leeds is negotiating a transfer fee for Cuisance with Die Roten. This report insists that the transfer fee could be close to €20 million. Fabrizio Romano is also reporting that Cuisance wants to play regularly, so he has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League club. Cuisance was first linked with a move to Leeds last week.

Cuisance was not present in the matchday squad against Hoffenheim. He featured in the first league game against Schalke but remained an unused substitute against Sevilla in the SuperCup last Thursday. L’Equipe insists that Hansi Flick is a big fan of the player, but he cannot guarantee him regular playing time this season.

It will be a big surprise if Cuisance seals a move away from Bavaria before the deadline day. This transfer will help Cuisance to develop since he is likely to start every week at Leeds, but Die Roten currently has limited options in the midfield department to grant him a transfer in this window.

More from Bayern Strikes

Javi Martinez is likely to leave the club before the end of the window, while Thiago Alcantara has already sealed a move to Liverpool. There have been no recent links to midfielders as Die Roten is solely focussing on signing a right-back and winger before the end of the window. Allowing another midfielder to leave so late in the window doesn’t make sense.

Cuisance shone after the lockdown in the few opportunities he got in the Bundesliga. He has the talent to shine in Bavaria. Hasan Salihamidzic had previously praised Cuisance for his attitude in training and backed him to become an important player for Die Roten in the future. Seeing Cuisance going down the Renato Sanches will be a huge disappointment for the club and fans.

Flick showed against Hoffenheim that he would be rotating the squad since games will come thick and fast this season. Cuisance will get more than enough opportunities to play for the first team, so it is just a matter of convincing the French midfielder to give Die Roten a chance this season.

Considering the struggle Rekordmeister is facing in the market since signing Leroy Sane and Tanguy Kouassi at the start of July, it will not be a wise move to allow Cuisance to join Leeds. Most importantly, a permanent move this summer rules out the French midfielder to return to Bavaria anytime soon unless there is a buyback clause. Die Roten should stand firm and stick with Mickael Cuisance for one more season due to the current circumstances.
