Uli Hoeness is confident that Benjamin Pavard will be one of the best transfers Bayern Munich has completed.

Bayern Munich has endured a mixed start to the new season. The German champions are slowly finding their mojo as they cruised to 4-0 victory against FC Cologne on Saturday. Earlier this week, Die Roten also hit the ground running in Champions League with a 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.

Niko Kovac looks more settled this season compared to last year. The Croatian knows his best starting lineup, and system, which helps the team to play in a particular style and eventually reach the desired level of consistency in every performance.

The summer was busy for Die Roten as they added five players to the squad, and released numerous senior players. These new arrivals have seamlessly slotted in the starting lineup and started contributing in results straightaway.

Benjamin Pavard has been a regular feature in the starting lineup from the first game of the season. The Frenchman feels settled at the club and has big targets for this season. Speaking to Sport1, Uli Hoeness praised the French defender and backed him to be a successful transfer for Bayern Munich.

"“After only a few weeks, he shows that he will be one of the best transfers we have ever made.”“It does not matter to me what a player costs, it has always been clear to me that he will be an outstanding transfer, especially as he is wonderful in character.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Bayern were reportedly keen on signing Pavard last summer, but the French defender decided to stay at VfB Stuttgart. The Bavarians moved quickly in January to seal the transfer, avoiding the involvement of other European clubs in a bidding war.

Pavard’s versatility has provided the right balance to the starting lineup. He looked shaky against Hertha Berlin in central defense but gradually improved as the game progressed. Kovac decided to move him into right-back position from the second Bundesliga game, allowing Joshua Kimmich to move into midfield.

This change from Kovac has helped Die Roten to play a more attractive style of football. Kimmich involvement in midfield helps in providing more stability to the team. Pavard has done well in the right-back position, grabbing a goal and an assist against Mainz. He has been consistent for Die Roten in the first five games, but still has scope for improvement. The French defender needs to work on his game in the final third.

It is too early to judge Pavard’s transfer, but the initial signs are promising. If he manages to add necessary attributes to his game and avoids injuries, then there is no doubt that he will be part of Bayern’s starting eleven for a long time.
